My Review
🖤 The Vibe: Vampire Diaries x Gladiator x Chaos
The second I heard:
Vampire Diaries meets Gladiator with a sprinkle of Fourth Wing??
Yeah… immediate YES.
And let me tell you—this delivered everything I needed.
Fast-paced. Addictive. No heavy info-dumping. Just straight into the action and chaos. The kind of book that shuts your brain off and pulls you completely under.
⚔️ The Plot: Blood, Survival & Impossible Choices
We follow Arvelle, former champion of the Sands tournament.
She won six years ago…
But it cost her everything.
Since then, she’s sworn off the arena—until a vampire shows up at her door with an offer she can’t refuse:
👉 Return to the arena
👉 Win the tournament
👉 Kill the emperor
Oh—and she’s completely out of practice and up against fighters who’ve trained their entire lives.
So basically…
A death sentence.
No pressure.
🔥 The Ride: Action-Packed & Unpredictable
This book does NOT slow down.
- Constant action
- High stakes
- Twists that keep coming
- Zero dull moments
I genuinely had no idea where this story was going—and I LOVED that.
Around the 50% mark, I thought things were wrapping up and I was like… wait??
🧛♀️ The World: Dark, Unique & Addictive
The worldbuilding here? So good—and seamlessly done.
We’ve got:
- Mundanes
- Vampires
- Sigilmarked (with powers based on markings 👀)
- And other mythical creatures (maginari)
The more markings you have—and the color?
That determines your power.
Obsessed.
And the whole Roman Empire-inspired setting mixed with vampires??
Dark, gritty, and completely immersive.
Fair warning: there are a lot of characters and details—this is one you want to pay attention to. It all starts clicking around the 40% mark.
😈 The Romance (Because Obviously)
We have… not one… but TWO MMCs 👀🔥
Yes. A love triangle.
Yes. I was living.
“All this time I thought leaving you had smashed my heart into pieces, and I’d be picking shards from my chest until the day I died. But my heart wasn’t smashed. I left it with you, and you’ve held it hostage ever since.”
It’s giving:
- Slow burn
- Yearning
- Forbidden tension
- Friends to lovers → enemies vibes
And listen…
I will ALWAYS choose the dark, brooding, morally grey one 😏
(Rorrik… I see you 👀)
The romance isn’t the main focus, but when it hits?
It hits.
🖤 What I Loved Most
This book is the definition of immersive chaos in the best way.
- Unique magic system
- Dark, dangerous world
- Political intrigue & scheming
- Twists I did NOT see coming
- A story that keeps you guessing constantly
😮💨 That Ending…
The last part??
Bombshell after bombshell.
I sat there like—
“Excuse me?? WHAT just happened??”
And now I’m over here like a gremlin waiting for book two because I need answers immediately.
💭 Final Thoughts
This was EXACTLY the kind of fantasy I needed.
Fast. Addictive. Dark. Unpredictable.
Final verdict:
A gripping, action-packed fantasy with vampires, deadly tournaments, and just enough romance to keep things deliciously complicated.
If you love:
- Gladiator-style battles
- Vampire politics
- Morally grey love interests
- High-stakes, twisty plots
You need this on your TBR ASAP.
