My Review
🏒 First Impressions: Why Did I Wait So Long?!
I put this book off for forever. It never really grabbed my attention—even with all the hype.
But let me tell you…
I’m so glad I finally picked it up.
Because I had an amazing time with this one.
Especially in the first half 😏✨
🔥 Zanders & Stevie (The Banter. The Tension. The CHEMISTRY.)
The glances.
The challenges.
The banter that feels effortless but loaded with tension.
I ate it UP.
“You gonna start being nice to me and stop being a needy little fucker with that call light?” she asks with a knowing grin.
Zanders and Stevie had:
- Natural chemistry
- Incredible sexual tension
- A connection that felt real, not forced
And when they finally gave in to each other??
Yeah… I was fully invested 😮💨🔥
🖤 Characters That Actually Feel Real
This is where the book really shines.
Zanders and Stevie are flawed, messy, human characters—not just tropes recycled over and over.
✨ Stevie
A private flight attendant for a Chicago hockey team who wants nothing to do with athletes (honestly, fair). She’s strong, guarded, and not impressed by fame—but underneath that? She’s deeply compassionate.
Her struggles with confidence and self-worth?
So real. So relatable.
She just wants to be someone’s first choice… and that hit me right in the feelings 🥹
🏒 Zanders
Your classic bad-boy hockey player on the surface—playboy reputation, media drama, all of it.
But underneath?
A man who’s terrified that if people really see him… they’ll leave.
Watching his softer side come out—and the way he helped build Stevie back up??
Yeah, he grew on me HARD.
💖 The Relationship (Why It Works So Well)
What I loved most?
This wasn’t just physical.
Yes, the attraction is there—but they actually take the time to:
- Learn each other
- Understand each other
- Grow with each other
Their emotional connection is what makes this relationship shine.
“I don’t see you the way you see yourself. I think you’re good, and sweet, and hilarious, and fucking stunning, Vee. And I just want a chance.” She stays silent, so I add, “You want to be chosen first? Well, so do I. So, choose me.”
They didn’t just fall into love—they built it.
And the found family element??
Zanders + the Maddison family = EVERYTHING 🥹✨
That support system added so much warmth to the story.
😬 The Second Half (Where It Lost Me a Bit)
Okay… honesty time 💋
The first half? Perfection.
The second half? Dragged.
This book could’ve easily been 100–200 pages shorter.
We got:
- Repetitive conflicts
- Miscommunication that kept getting dragged out
- Moments that felt overly cheesy or forced
There were so many times where I thought, “Okay THIS is where they finally figure it out…”
…and then nope. Another issue 😅
The media drama around Zanders also felt a bit repetitive and went on longer than necessary.
✨ The Growth (Still Worth It)
Even with the pacing issues, I really appreciated:
- Zanders being self-aware
- Him actively working on himself
- Both of them becoming better versions of themselves together
That emotional growth?
That’s what kept me invested.
💭 Final Thoughts
This book isn’t perfect—but it’s addictive, emotional, and full of heart.
Final verdict:
A swoony, character-driven sports romance with incredible chemistry, meaningful growth, and all the found family feels… just a little longer than it needed to be.
Did I love it? Yes.
Am I immediately starting The Right Move? Also yes 😏📚
