🕵️♀️ Mystery, Mayhem & Mind Games
Hide and Seek hooked me pretty damn quickly and kept me there.
Harper-Rayne is a forensic pathology resident who prefers working the night shift in the morgue—which, honestly, is already giving me the perfect creepy-girl aesthetic. 😂 She’s grungy, a little gothy, sarcastic, outspoken, and completely unapologetic about who she is.
But then the bodies on her table start leaving messages meant specifically for her.
Ummm… NOPE. 😳
From there, things take a seriously dark turn as Harper-Rayne finds herself caught in a twisted game of secrets, obsession, fear, and psychological mind games. And just when I thought I had figured out what the hell was happening, Sheridan Anne would throw another twist at me.
The entire time I was questioning what was real, who could be trusted, and whether Harper-Rayne was actually seeing the bigger picture.
And that suspense kept me turning those pages.
🖤 Harper-Rayne Is My Kind of FMC
I really liked Harper-Rayne.
She goes through SO MUCH, and there were definitely moments when I wanted to wrap her in bubble wrap and yell, “Girl, can you please catch a break?!” 😫
But what I admired most was that she never completely allowed everything happening around her to turn her into a victim.
She’s strong. She’s confident. She’s funny. She has a mouth on her. And even when life keeps knocking her down, she gets back up.
When darkness wants to claim you, do you run or do you step into the light, daring it to catch you?
I also loved that she felt different from your typical romance heroine. Give me the grungy/gothy forensic pathology resident working the night shift in a morgue. 😂
🔥 Knight Slater… Sir.
✔️ Tall.
✔️ Hot.
✔️ Tattooed.
✔️ SWAT team leader.
Need I say more? 🙂↕️
Knight Slater definitely had my attention.
He has that whole alpha, dominant, protective energy, but there’s also a softer and more vulnerable side to him that I really enjoyed seeing.
He was exactly the kind of man Harper-Rayne needed—someone who could handle her, ground her, and tell her the truth even when she didn’t necessarily want to hear it.
“What am I going to do?” I groan, my words muffled by his shirt. “Well, for starters, let’s try not fucking the serial killer.”
And then there’s the fact that their relationship is forbidden.
Oh, you know I was going to eat that up. 🤭
The tension between these two was EVERYTHING. Their chemistry builds slowly, and that forbidden element just makes every interaction feel that much more charged.
😂 Laith & Izzy Steal the Show

Laith.
That man was easily one of my favorite characters.
His banter with Harper-Rayne had me laughing, and their whole friendship/on-again-off-again situation was just SO entertaining. He brought some much-needed humor into an otherwise dark and unsettling story.
I really hope we get more of him in the next book because I am absolutely not ready to let him go. 😊
And Izzy?!
Everyone needs an Izzy in their life.
She is the kind of best friend who will tell you exactly what you need to hear, whether you want to hear it or not—and then immediately have your back when the shit hits the fan.
“What’s the problem? You don’t approve of your bestie being a semen demon for your daddy dearest?”
That friendship was one of my favorite parts of the book.
🌶️ And Yes… There’s Spice
Because obviously I need to talk about this. 😂
The spice definitely wasn’t bad either. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
But what I really liked was that the romance didn’t completely overpower the mystery. There was still a lot happening outside of the relationship, and the suspense remained a huge part of the story.
You get the age gap, forbidden romance, step-uncle situation, stalker vibes, psychological mind games, obsession, mystery, and spice all wrapped into one deliciously dark package.
And yes…
I was here for it. 🤭
😵💫 That Ending?!
EXCUSE ME, SHERIDAN ANNE?!
What was THAT?!
Just when I thought I had finally gotten my footing and understood what was happening, the book decided to kick the chair out from underneath me.
That cliffhanger has me sitting here questioning EVERYTHING.
I need Book 2 immediately.
Like…
Immediately.
Because there is no way you can end a book like that and expect me to calmly go about my day. 😵💫
💭 Final Thoughts
Hide and Seek was dark, intense, creepy, twisty, and one hell of a wild ride.
I loved the mystery surrounding the story and how often it made me question what was real. The suspense kept me hooked, and every new revelation had me desperate to figure out what was actually going on.
Harper-Rayne was a fantastic FMC—strong, sarcastic, resilient, and absolutely refusing to become a victim. Knight gave me the tall, tattooed, protective SWAT hero I apparently needed in my life, and their forbidden chemistry was 🔥.
This isn’t a light, fluffy romance. It’s dark, unsettling, obsessive, and filled with psychological games. And if that’s your kind of reading playground, RUN.
Because that ending?
Yeah… I need Book 2. Like yesterday. 🖤😵💫
